I am a national security professional obsessed with understanding the future of conflict and security, and offering actionable policy recommendations to manage it.
In my day job, I am researcher, but obviously, the opinions expressed here on this blog, whether smart or incredibly dumb, are solely my own.
Before, I did A LOT of different things: I traveled through in a van advocating for youth inclusion; I roamed the hallways of multilateral organizations; and of course, contributed and led a million and one research projects. This is what I think gave me a terminal case of generalism, but also a specific passion for service.
Generally speaking, I know what I am talking about when it comes to security, conflict, emerging threats, and strategic foresight, but as they say, and for better or worse…I dabble. I studied history, but try to get more into sci-fi and fantasy; I read fast but write slowly; know some things but love working with people because I can learn so much more; intellectually red team the heck outta myself so I can help the blue team; and chase the big idea but also stress over how it can become reality.
Every 2-ish weeks, my plan is to bring you, as the tag says, “Enthusiastically partial, big picture ideas that affect international security”. My goal with the Overview Affect, besides clearing out a bit my grab bag of ideas, is to eventually hit upon some forward-looking international security ideas that can spur action.
